"…Overall, how are things working? First, the system is maintenance free…a Heliotex cleaning system (it’s like a sprinkler system for the solar panels), washes the panels automatically three times per week and does a full cleaning with special cleaning solution once every two weeks…I was told my system would generate enough power to offset 85-90% of my usage, but I have been generating far more than that. My electric bill would normally be $150 (May 15 – June 15) with the pool pump running more and starting to use the air conditioning. I just received my electric bill today.--My meter reading was NEGATIVE 340 kWh and my actual “bill” was NEGATIVE $42.87. That equates to $150.00 back in my pocket, that I normally would have paid to the electric company, plus $42.87 additional credit! Need I say more?"
From Dan...
"My SunPower system has as of this writing produced 4235 kWh of power since turning it on September 28, 2009. That means I am less than 500 kWh away from your annual production estimate of 4725 kWh. At the current production rate I should pass your estimate no later than August 17, and I estimate that at the end of one full year of production, the system will have generated 800 kWh over your estimate...Thanks for a great SunPower solar electric system!"
Update from Dan...
"Within the past hour, my SunPower solar system surpassed your predicted yearly production estimate of 4725 kWh. The system was turned on September 28, 2009, meaning I still have 40 days of production to complete my system’s one year of service. During the past 30 days, I averaged 18.1 kWh of daily production, which would give me an estimated 724 kWh hours production over the SunPower yearly production estimate, except I expect the production to go up some due to cooler daytime temperatures. It should also be noted that during the past year, I only had 25 days of production in which weather caused a 50% decrease in the average daily production!"
